## Liquids in carry-on

Varies

- At U.S. security checkpoints, liquids, gels, aerosols and pastes are limited to containers of 3.4 oz / 100 ml in one clear quart-size zip-top bag.
- TSA provisions can allow necessary medication, breast milk, juice or infant formula after separate screening.
- These are airport-security rules, so requirements at non-U.S. departure and connection airports may differ.

## Pets

### Pet transport

Allowed

Small dogs and cats, plus household birds on flights within the contiguous United States, may travel in the cabin subject to age, route, space and kennel rules; Delta recommends a soft carrier no larger than 18 × 11 × 11 in for most aircraft.

More details

- For tickets issued on or after 8 April 2025, the one-way cabin fee is USD/CAD 150 on listed US and Canadian routes and USD/CAD/EUR 200 internationally.
- Pet shipping is limited to active US military and State Department personnel with PCS orders; Delta's brachycephalic-breed ban applies to cargo, not every cabin pet.
- For travel from the United States to Mexico from 3 August 2026, dogs need a New World Screwworm inspection certificate from a USDA-accredited veterinarian issued no more than five days before arrival.
- Dogs entering the United States from affected countries also need inspection documentation issued within five days of arrival.

## Special baggage

### Sports equipment

Varies

Most listed sports equipment uses the standard checked-bag charge for the cabin, route and bag count, with overweight and additional-bag fees where applicable.

More details

- Equipment must use a durable container designed for the item.
- The general maximum is 115 linear in (292 cm) and under 100 lb (45 kg), but item-specific exceptions apply: canoes and ordinary kayaks are refused while folding kayaks are accepted, and vaulting poles are not accepted on Delta-operated flights.
- Some Delta Connection aircraft and destinations impose further limits.

### Musical instruments

Allowed

Guitars and smaller instruments such as violins or flutes may replace the free carry-on bag when approved cabin storage is available.

More details

- A checked instrument with its case may measure up to 150 linear in (381 cm) and weigh up to 165 lb (75 kg); Delta asks for an ATA Specification 300 case and destination limits may apply.
- A fragile instrument may instead use a purchased full-fare seat, up to 165 lb (75 kg), provided it is covered, seat-belted and does not block aisles, exits, signs or safety equipment.

### Medical equipment

Allowed

Approved PAP devices, POCs, respirators and ventilators may be used onboard with an independent compliant battery.

More details

- The 150% battery requirement applies when the device is used during flight; Delta requires POC review at least 48 hours before domestic travel and 72 hours before international travel, while respirators and ventilators need 48 hours' notice.
